One of the latest doulas I've met in this amazing  birth photography journey, is Autumn, from Dynamic Doulas of Denver.  Autumn works with the Accessible Birth Connection (ABC) which supports women of all socioeconomic statuses to help connect doulas to low income families or homeless women.  Doulas should be available to everyone, not just those who can afford it and I love that Autumn is part of this amazing program.    There are so many benefits to mom and family that go beyond expense.  Its been shown that having a doula decreases the length of labor, reduces the need need for pain medication, there are fewer c-sections and a happier birth outcomes, to name a few positives.  If cost was part of your concern about hiring a doula, then give Autumn and the Accessible Birth Connection a call to learn more about how the program works.  Autumn definitely has a passion for her job, and that was obvious from the moment I met her. The night I met Autumn, we had both been called by Brittany's husband Bryan to say that labor had just started.  When Bryan called me, he sounded a little frazzled and said they were on their way to the hospital.  Little did any of us know,  that Brittany was already dilated to 8cm, and things were very intense from the first moment her contractions started.

I rushed to the University of Colorado Hospital and arrived when Brittany was getting in the birthing pool.   Autumn came over and introduced herself to me with a smile and I liked her immediately.  Then she went back to supporting Brittany so Bryan could have a moment to change his clothes and take a breathe.  The baby was coming very fast!

Brittany was getting into the tub, it was obvious that she was dealing with strong contractions, she was in the moment and her support team did an awesome job.

Support is holding a hand, saying the right thing at the right moment, and just being close to people who care about you.

Shortly after Brittany started pushing, baby was born!   I love what is going on in the photo above, Autumn looks truly happy.  Perfect.

After Belle was born, Autumn stayed to help baby latch and after Autumn's help, she did very quickly and was a great eater.

It was amazing meeting you Autumn and I hope we work together again very soon!
