Birth of Greyson in Colorado Springs, Colorado; A change of birth plans
When I was contacted by Michelle to shoot a birth in Colorado Springs at St. Frances Medical Center, I was pretty excited to share in their birthing day. Michelle and Ashley waited a long time before having kids and they were very in love and full of love to share. I immediately liked both of them and it was easy to capture their love on camera. As their due date came closer, we kept in touch and after going past her due date a few days, the doctor decided it was time to induce Michelle. She arrived at the hospital the night before the induction and was monitored through the night, she was already having contractions. They called me to come the following morning, when her water was to be broken. I drove down to Colorado Springs and pulled up when I got a text that she had gone from 3cm to 7cm to 9cm very quickly and she was going to start pushing. I ran upstairs and spent some time with Michelle and Ashley as they worked together to get baby Greyson out. After pushing for a short time, the doctor said that the baby was too big, and stuck, so they opted for a c-section. I was unable to photograph inside the operating room, but gave my camera to dad, who was able to get some great shots. His grandparents were waiting for him as well, and they got to meet their very first grandchild that day. It was an emotional meeting and one that warms my heart to think about, I am so glad that I got to share those moments with them. It was truly wonderful. Take a minute to check out the rest of baby Greyson's birthing day story; even though his birth didn't go as planned, he is a very loved little baby already.
Greyson J. Dixon
Born at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs to his proud parents.
After pushing, the doctors decided C-section was the best decision and quickly prepped Michelle and Ashley for the change of plans.
After spending 2 hours in recovery, Michelle and Ashley came back to their room where they would spend the next few days getting to know their son, Greyson. Ashley's parents, two very proud new grandparents, came in to see their grandson for the first time. It brought tears to my eyes and you can see why in the photos.
Thank you so much, Michelle and Ashley, for allowing me to be a part of your birth story - It was my honor and I can't wait to watch this little guy grow up. You three are an amazing family with lots of love for each other, and its been amazing getting to know you throughout this transition in your life. Thank you.
