Trade for Services, Ann Arbor Maternity and Birth Photographer
Ann Arbor Maternity and Birth Photographer
As an Ann Arbor Maternity and Birth photographer, I often receive the question if I trade or barter for services. My short answer is yes! There are many things that we pay for already that we'd be happy to trade for. I'm grateful that my job as a photographer allows me to work in this way. My Ann Arbor maternity and birth photographer services are priced at $500 per family or maternity session and my birth stories start at $1800.
Many people understand the price for birth photographer should be similar to that of a wedding photographer and I want to share a little bit more about why. If you understand that value already then you can skip my soap box and scroll down to the list. If you are interested or not sure, please keep reading.
As an Ann Arbor maternity and birth photographer, I think of each of my clients every time I step out the door. My camera needs to be packed with batteries charged and memory cards empty and ready to go every single time I load up my car to go more than 20 minutes from my house. I also have to have a backup plan for my children, because I could get "the call" at any moment. Therefore, I'm always checking my phone signal to be sure I'm in a place where clients can actually reach me!
Most importantly, birth photographers spend up to 5 weeks on call for clients and that comes with lifestyle change. I've missed birthday parties, holidays and opted out on family vacations all because I'm on call. I've left from a fair, from a restaurant, from my husband's birthday party and drove to my clients in labor. I've been woken up in the middle of the night and drove through a snowstorm, to reach a client who was deemed in prodromal labor. Then I had to go home and do it all over again the next day. This happens all the time, because this is birth.
That's my soapbox, and now it's over. Here are some cute photos of birth and my list of things that we could use and trade for. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Email me at JenniferMasonPhotography@gmail.com.
