Empowered Birth with the University of Michigan Midwives

Empowered Birth with the University of Michigan Midwives

One of my favorite parts of meeting new clients is hearing about their birth plans and wishes. When I talked to Sabrina on the phone she talked about having a natural birth with the University of Michigan midwives and I just had the vibe that she would rock her birth experience. She wanted to have her own mother in the room with her, as well as her mother in law. She wanted them to both witness the birth of the next generation. It felt very selfless and loving and I knew this birth would be special.

Sabrina’s water broke on it’s own, but labor didn’t start for several hours after. However, when labor did start, it was intense and fast. I arrived at the hospital and saw that she was well into active labor and baby would be here soon. She was getting out of the tub and transitioning, there was talk of an epidural, but once she heard how close she was and how fast this was progressing, Sabrina kept going and didn’t mention it again.
Shortly after, she felt the urge to push and she asked if she could stand up. The midwife smiled and said, ‘of course’ and the nurse and midwife made a space for her to stand comfortably. Sabrina was supported and loved and she brought her son earthside. It was amazing! Her mother and mother in law were in awe of the moment and her husband supported her lovingly throughout the experience. This is how birth should be, and this is exactly how it was for her.
I have a few spaces available for 2019 and I’m already booking 2020 births, inquire today for more info!

Sabrina decided to stand up to deliver her baby, the midwife and nurse were happy to accommodate her wishes.

This nurse was the best!
